War Poems Over There eBook Robert Marshall
War Poems tells a tale of our young people that go to war and not only lose their innocence but also their identity and in many cases, their mental health. Robert Marshall describes through powerful words how his world, anyone's world who goes to war, is turned upside down, how it feels to be a gay veteran, alone in battle zones with little to no contact with family, with the "ribbons" back home. A must read for anyone who wants to understand the immeasurable toll that war takes on our service men.Product details

War Poems Over There eBook Robert Marshall Reviews
.... Without actually serving.
I found this piece through a friend's recommendation on Facebook. It really gives a window into the conscience of the service people getting by in this time of perpetual warfare.
Robert achieves an incredibly rare accomplishment in "War Poems Over There." It's not often that an author finds the right order and the right words to describe the exact thoughts, worries, fears, hopes, values, and dreams that thousands of young men have on the tips of their tongue but just can't articulate. He discovers these through a journey filled with danger, but somehow keep the presence of mind to make profound observations about death, masculinity, love, and loyalty. Toying with their ambiguities and shortcomings, but reminding us that this being human thing might actually be worth it. The collection left me laughing, crying, pacing, and most importantly thinking more than I have since Nabokov's "Lolita". If you're still reading this stop. You've wasted enough time already. Buy the collection.
Creative, thoughtful, and a poetic journey. Must read!
